In 2020, the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) and Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI) made the decision to merge their two organizations to combine resources, knowledge, and assets to respond to changing needs in the health improvement landscape. The organizations teamed with Uncommon Bold to undergo a rebranding project, which included creating a shared name, visual identity, and website for the newly formed organization that would more effectively represent and attract members.
Building board support for the change across both organizations was a critical goal, and we focused our initial brand research on listening and building trust with those leaders. Leveraging their insights as well as external landscape research and data analysis, our team led the members through a workshop that aligned everyone on the most important shared goals from both programs’ histories. Uncommon Bold established a brand strategy and visual design direction for the new organization and then guided the team in selecting a new name, narrowing down from 60 candidates to three final contenders before the organization chose Civitas Networks for Health. Board members were invited to participate and vote on direction throughout the process, building lasting buy-in for the new brand.
Our team designed, wrote, and developed a new website that showcased Civitas’ commitment to collaboration across local nonprofit health collaboratives and health information exchanges.
