For the second year, our awards program is celebrating books that push the standard in medicine and offer a fresh perspective around what the future of care can look like.
This award uplifts authors who aren’t afraid to explore what is possible in the world of healthcare — whether that’s through a focus on social justice, a creative fusion of art and science, or unconventional storytelling around solving healthcare’s toughest problems.
Books, booklets, zines, and other creative healthcare-related works with narratives from anywhere within the healthcare landscape are welcome: centering patients, clinicians, communities, and beyond. If your book offers a new lens on care, we want to read it.

Last year, our inaugural Procedure Awards named Crowded Out: The True Costs of Crowdfunding Healthcare by Nora Kenworthy the 2026 winner alongside four exceptional finalists from more than 50 submissions. Our guest judges — Dr. Rana Awdish, Victor M. Montori, MD, and Dr. Todd Otten — helped shape the program to recognize standout voices in healthcare.

About Procedure Press: Established in 2018 as the publishing division of Uncommon Bold, Procedure Press amplifies voices in healthcare and explores systems of change. The imprint has directly published two award-winning books as well as supported the collaborative publication of several other works that have sparked dialogue in medical schools, healthcare organizations, media, and industry events.
